Heads Up - What Else You Should Know
In February, we released the v4.5.17 Controller (actual date January 29). Below are key product enhancements and agent updates. We also resolved a series of issues associated with the previous release.
Please note: customers are advised to check backward compatibility in the Agent and Controller Compatibility documentation.
These release highlights include the newest features and capabilities at-a-glance this month. In the grid below, we’ve flagged who may be most interested or impacted in your organization by each enhancement.

Synthetic Private Agent now supports Windows Server 2016 (Synthetic Agent v20.2+) and Windows Server 2012 64-bit or 2012 R2 64-bit operating systems. More information on Synthetic Private Agent requirements can be found in the documentation portal.
We launched an IBM Integration Bus (IIB) Agent for Linux. Given that IIB is an IBM technology, we anticipated demand for, and have planned, support on AIX (IBM's Unix). IIB provides a variety of options for implementing a universal integration foundation based on an enterprise service bus (ESB). This implementation helps to enable connectivity and transformation in heterogeneous IT environments for businesses of any size, in any industry and covering a range of platforms.
We have also implemented broader database coverage for .NET APM agents. Users are now able to instrument exit calls from the .NET agent to the following backends: Oracle, MongoDB, AWS DynamoDB and Azure CosmosDB. This improvement encompasses coverage to the major databases requested by our customers.
Display an image on dashboards created in Dash Studio using the Image widget. Uploaded files (JPEG, PNG, SVG, and other common formats) are automatically converted to Base64 encoding and stored securely. Image widget is available for SaaS users now and will become available to on-premise customers in 20.4.0 controller release. Plus, you can set specific time ranges for widgets distinct from the global time range of the dashboard to compare data from different time ranges.
To help you more easily understand the length of support, compatibility, and stability, AppDynamics will implement a calendar-based approach to versioning for all downloadable products starting March 2020. The release version format will incorporate the date of release like so: YY. Mo. X (ex: 20.3.0 for the first release in March 2020). For more information, read the FAQ here.
