Q: What is the AppDynamics process for performing maintenance on SaaS Controllers? How often does it happen and is there downtime involved?

 

The Controller is upgraded to the next major release yearly. Minor release upgrades are deployed as needed to address software defects or minor feature gaps.

 

Additional Notes:

  • There is more flexibility for dedicated Controllers.
  • You can upgrade Pre-Prod Controllers before Production Controllers.
  • The End User must be up to date on their current fees in order to receive access to Maintenance.

Q: What kind of communication does AppDynamics use to send alerts to customers?

 

The primary account admin is notified via email about any maintenance activity beforehand, and also after the activity is completed.

 

AppDynamics uses the following policy to alert customers to maintenance and upgrades:

  • Customers are notified a minimum of 48 hours in advance of regular maintenance. The only exception is for emergency maintenance.
  • Customers are notified again before and after the maintenance. The typical maintenance window is 1 hour.
