Beginning with v22.6.0, users that are authenticated by the global AppDynamics Identity Provider (AppD IDP)—e.g., local Controller users—will only need to sign in to an authorized AppDynamics product or service once.

Per session, this single authentication will allow them to freely access other Controllers and services for which they are a user. As they navigate among their authorized AppDynamics products and services, they will not be asked for their password again.

This feature is part of a larger managed identity effort on the product roadmap. Later this year, be on the lookout for an announcement about converting existing pre-21.11 local user accounts to the new SSO-enabled AppDynamics managed user identity.

For more information, see FAQ - Sign in once to AppD and see everything in the Knowledge Base.

Quick question a year later - did the controller accounts get moved over to AppD IDP?

Hi @Pete.McFarlane , Thanks for your question.   Generally, yes.  All new users "local" users created in a SAAS controller are created as part of the AppD IDP.  A few months back we began rolling out the the "migration" experience for existing local users as well.  Most active users have migrated to the new AppD IDP, however, there are user accounts that have not migrated as they have not logged in recently or have not completed the process of migrating.  Have a look here for the migration details:

Thanks again,
