We've instrumented an .net applicaiton some month back.
When i checked the flowmap which got created automatically , im able to see the some other application also in the visual drawing ., is there any way to remove that application from the map . Because i want to instrument that application as seperate one.
PS: Kindly refer the attached snapshot.
Hi Soundarajan, If we understand correctly from the problem statement, you want ...
If we understand correctly from the problem statement, you want to delete the ARTSupport Tier/Node registered from this business controller application A and you want to configure this Tier to some other business controller application B.
If our understanding is correct, You can go to the Agent Node server and open the config.xml, after that configure the application Tier/Node to report to the other controller application B and then restart the agent coordinator service and IIS/instrumented application service in sequence. After that apply the load on the application. Now, your application Tier/Node will register under the controller application B and will not report to controller application A.
After that, you can delete the Tier/Node from the controller UI under the controller application A as attached screenshot.
Please let us know if you have any question or we misunderstood anything here.

I see flowmaps are getting loaded with tiers & nodes in dashboard when i open the application window.
I've a doubt like how these things are getting created ,
If i instrument one IIS in a server , how its creating tiers/nodes in the map for that application and assigning the app related nodes or BT's to that tiers.

IIS can host multiple Web Apps. In case you are using Automatic Configuration then all the sites hosted on the IIS Server will be instrumented and tier name will be created based on Site name and node name will be created using following rule
<machine NetBIOS name>-<tier>-<IIS site>/<app>
This is explained in following document
Please read following as well for additional info

In my organisation, some month back they;ve configured an Internal ITSM applicaiton with Appdynamics ., So i tried to check Business transacion for that application today.
When i view the list it shows only the "All Other traffic" only., im unable to see any other critical BT calls for that application .
Could you please advise me how can i check for the correct BT detections for this application.
PS: I've attached the snapshot of application

Yes that is correct. 207 total business transactions have been registered out of which 125 of them received requests in the selected time frame. If you click on filters on top and uncheck " Show Transactions with Performance Data" checkbox you will see all the registered BTs
What you need to do is organize your business transactions. The following document will help

I have used health rule status widget to display status n dashboard, but the health rule status is not getting updated on dashboard.
For e.g :- My health rule status is green ,but still in dashboard i am observing yellow(warning status). Please refer snapshot for the same .
Snapshot 1 :- Dashboard status + error count
Snapshot 2 :- Health rule evaluation status (Time range last 15 min)
Heath rule :- if error per min is greater than 0 for a particular transaction status should be warning if its greater than 1 ,status should be in critical.
Thanks in Advance!
Hi Manasi, When a Health rule violation is detected (Normal to Warning or Normal to Cri...
When a Health rule violation is detected (Normal to Warning or Normal to Critical) the status light is updated within 1 minute. But when a health rule violation is ended (Warning to Normal or Critical to Normal) the status light is updated after 3-5 minutes after, even if you do a manual refresh on the page. Status light does not show status based on health rule evaluation time. This is the current behaviour but we have already filed an enhancement request to update status light widget on the basis of last 1 minute data but there is no ETA as of now.
Note- Status light Widget shows the worst health rule violation status in last x minute which you have selected in dashboard time range. Thanks,Yogesh

Howdy folks -
Just wondering what you have tried for monitoring kubernetes clusters. I have an upcoming project to intigrate with kubernetes and since there is no community extension then I was curious as to what I can possibly monitor without making our own extension to plug into AppD. Any guideance is greately appriciated.
It's almost Friday :) We can make it!

Nope, nothing yet. The best you can currently do is to deploy the AppD agent in EACH contrainer you deploy, which is not the best solution to the issue. To have K8 supported would make perfect sense for AppD to add into the product and it is going to be horrible until they do.
Many fortune 100's that use the product use K8s nowadays and AppD needs to step it up and realize it.
I have had to revert to DataDog to monitor my infrastrutre correctly and reserve AppD strictly for APM only which is disappointing.

we're using AppD 220.127.116.11 and I'm trying to configure Service Endpoints correctly. Until now, I only optimized detection rules for BTs, which in our case are exclusively WebService from the Java agent.
Lately I learned that to get the FULL metrics for my WebService, I should also configure Service Endpoint detection. Because if my WebService is called in the scope of some other BT, this service invocation will not show up in the BT statistics https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO43/Service+Endpoints. Ok, makes sense
So I configure Service Endpoint detection, and it discovers my webservices automatically. This works nicely.
What I don't understand though are the metrics that are shown for the BTs and the Service Endpoints. I was expecting that if I have a webserice like "UserDirectory.findUser", that this would now appear in both dashboards. And that the number of calls in the Service Endpoint dashboard would always be at least the same (or higher) than the number of calls in the BT dashboard - because every invocation of my webservice would count as a service endpoinrt call, but only some as BT calls (those that are not in the context of a "broader" BT).
But this is not the case. Some webservices show (for the same time range, of course) MORE calls under BTs than under service endpoints. And some don't show up in the Service endpoint dashboard alltogehter, although they appear as BTs.
Did I understand something totally wrong? Or is there a logical explanation for what I'm seeing?

Sorry for the late response, I was away for a few days.
Turns out that all my problems (supposedly missing metrics) was actually just impatience on my side.
For me in my installation it became apparent that after changing discovery rules, I really needed to wait for an extended period of time (definitely more than 1 hour) AND restart all instrumented JVMs (although all are running on Oracle/Sun 8 JDK) to get reliable results.
After I did that (change rule, stop JVMs, delete all old BTs/ServiceEndpoints, restart JVMs) I now get repeatable and correct metrics. Well, sometimes they are a few tenths of 1 percent off in counting calls, but that's more than good enough for metrics!
So sorry if I did spread some FUD here, but for me it now looks that ServiceEndpoints now provide exactly the metrics I was expecting from them. They show basic KPI for all invocations of my service, even if it happened in the context of an already existing BT. Perfect!

When i see the Overall applications health in the app dashboard view, i see one of my application health status is showing in red color, but BT and Nodes are in green color.
I've attached snapshot of it.
Could someone please advise on this.

The health rules establish health status of entities in AppD. Check for health rules status of your application.
You could see this from application dashboard under events. There should be a critical event affecting your application which is why it shows up red.

I'd like to confirm: does the NodeJS Agent work on a Windows 10 machine?
According to the docs:
"Windows Server 2008R2+ and newer for 64 bit applications for Node.js versions 0.12.0 and higher`
Por "Windows Server 2008R2+ and newer"
My first impression is that it'd work on any Windows version newer than the Windows Server 2008R2+, but I believe I misinterpreted it.
So, it MUST be a Windows SERVER machine, right?
Thanks in advance,

I understand that in order to use the Java Proxy with my NodeJS agent on Windows AND PM2 I have to take some additional steps, as in:
However, what if I do not want the Java Proxy? I.e., I am running my agent with libagent: true (proxyless mode). Do I have to worry about any of this?
Thanks in advance,

I'd like to know if it's possible to have a metric such as "Total calls of a Business Transaction" (in a time range). Tried using SUM and COUNT of "Calls per minute" but it didn't work quite right.
Thanks in advance,

You can also do the same in custom dashboard by adding a "Metric Value" widget and select the "Calls Per Minute" metric for the desired business transaction and then select "sum" from the drop down.
This will always give you the total during the time range picked on the cusotm dashboard.
