What do I need to know about transitioning from AppDynamics Pro Trial to AppDynamics Lite licenses?

The AppDynamics SaaS Pro Trial license is available as a free 15-day trial period. If the license isn’t upgraded by end of trial, your AppDynamics SaaS Pro Trial will automatically transition to AppDynamics Lite, our free product edition.

Both the AppDynamics Pro Trial and AppDynamics Lite licenses are SaaS, and not for on-premises deployments.

NOTE: This article contains information about licenses under the Agent-based Licensing model. Learn more about licensing models in the AppDynamics Licensing documentation.

What happens when a 15-day Pro trial account expires?

When a trial period ends and AppDynamics detects an expired AppDynamics Pro Trial license, the Controller resets all agents and the account transitions to a free AppDynamics Lite license. The Lite license has limitations to number of agent units, End User Monitoring, query time frame, and number of applications monitored.

See information on resetting app agents under Reset App Agents in the Manage App Agents documentation

Agent Registration

After the reset, the Controller limits agent registration and license usage to the first of each type of the following agent types in use:

  • Java Agent
  • .NET Agent
  • PHP Agent
  • Node.js Agent.

NOTE: AppDynamics recommends that you uninstall any agents you do not use. For instructions on how to uninstall an agent, see the uninstall topic corresponding to your agent type under Install App Server Agents documentation.

Lite License Account History

With the Lite License, account history is retained for only 24 hours.

How do I move from a free license to a paid one?

To upgrade to a paid license, contact your sales representative. See AppDynamics Pricing for license purchase or change information.

The Synthetic Private Agent (Unlimited Locations) license is based on the number of visited pages.
