Starting a new trial, new to AppDynamics

Hi, I'm new to AppDynamics and I'm trying out the trial. 

I see that the trial provides a sample or maybe trial controller, but where I get stuck is the Application Server. Do I need my own application server to run this or is there a trial one I can try this out on during my testing of the product? Sorry for the very dumb question!

Hi,

It really depends on what you want to instrument. 

You need a java application or dotnet application that you want ot monitor.

it can be running on your local laptop or desktop, in this case your local machine will be an application server assuming you have a java process running on it over tomcat.
