Hi All,

Is there a way to determine how much data agents send to AppDynamics?

Charan

Hi @Charan.Puppala,

Do you mean how much agent data is sent to the AppDynamics Controller or to the company AppDynamics?

Thanks,

Hi Ryan,

I mean the data ingested to AppDynamics controller by the agents.

Hi @Charan.Puppala,

The busier the Application is, the more data will be fed into AppDynamics. Do you have a more specific question or concern about the amount of data?

Hi Ryan,

we need this information that was sent to Appdynamics by agent in MegaBytes /Giga bytes on monthly basis for our analysis.

Hi @Charan.Puppala,

I asked around and I'm not sure if this is possible. It seems the data is more focused on the tier/node/app instead of the agent.

Hi Ryan,

I didn't get the appropriate answer or solution for what i am looking.

Hi Charan

there is no way to determine the size of the data is being send from single agent to the controller, because this depends on many circumstances, let see the type of data send by any agent first

1- it send about 10% of normal transaction snapshot, then it send all slow, very slow, stall, and failed transactions (of transactions with errors)
2- also it sends metrics for each (services, business transactions detected in the application)

3- if you enable the analytics for this application, you will find additional data send to controller

so based on how complex your application , and how much traffic if getting out from your application, this will raise of lower traffic from the agent to controller.

my suggestion is to enable traffic capture between your agent and  controller based on IP address and port number, and then calculate the amount of data daily and monthly, this will be the best accurate way to find the amount of data you seek.
