Converting Tiers into applications

Hi,

In our controller we have configured an application called "TR" under which there are multiple tiers. Each tier itself is an application but due to some reason these were configured as tiers in the past. Now, we want to convert these  tiers as an individual application. I am not sure what is the best way to achieve this. Will there be any impact on the application past data due to this conversion? Are there any documentation available regarding this?
