Yes, you can have agent running on windows/linux and connected to controller running on windows/linux.

But in the latest version of controller i.e enterprises console it is given as "Cross platform (OS) installation, e.g., installing the Enterprise Console on Linux and the Controller on Mac or Windows, is not supported."

So i wanted to known can it be done in lower version or can be done in enterprises console .

Re: Can agent and controller get connected if in different OS

Hi Yogesh,

You are mixing up two different things. The note is for enteprise console which is like a console using which you can administer different components like controller, events services etc.

Enteprise console and its associated components have to be on the same OS.

Controller and Agent can be on different OS.

Thanks,

Gurmit.

Depends on your requirement. From the following link (https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO44/Enterprise+Console) i see the details as below:

Platform Install Modes

There are two install types that you can use to deploy your platform:

Express Install

  • The quickest way to get started for fresh Controller installations
  • Install the Controller and an embedded Events Service on a single host

Custom Install

  • Configure and customize user inputs and installation/data directories for the Controller and Events Service
  • Install or upgrade single or HA Controllers and scaled-up Events Service in a distributed setup

Controller HA pairs and Events Service clusters are not available on Windows Enterprise Console machines since the Enterprise Console does not support remote operations on Windows.

  • Add one or more Events Service nodes
  • Discover & Upgrade older platform services
